In one of my early writing classes in college (so, like 1990!), two of my 'textbooks' were The Handbook of Good English by Edward Johnson and The Transitive Vampire by Karen Gordon. I appreciate them so much, that they still reside on my bookshelf at work, within easy reach. What a wonderful reminder. The pages are turning brown (full-on acidity on these pages) and I might need to go reread them for pleasure.
