The Mailbag project team is excited to announce the Mailbag Specification 1.0 release and the mailbagit MVP release!

The Mailbag Specification<https://archives.albany.edu/mailbag/spec/> is an extension of the Bagit Specification that aims to preserve email using multiple formats in a structured and actionable package. The specification is now maintained in markdown hosted on Github<https://github.com/UAlbanyArchives/mailbag-specification/>.

Mailbagit<https://github.com/UAlbanyArchives/mailbagit> is a command line utility for packaging email export formats such as MBOX, PST, EML, and MSG, into “mailbags” according to the Mailbag Specification while generating multiple derivative formats, such as PDFs WARCs, and EMLs. Mailbagit also includes a basic GUI<https://archives.albany.edu/mailbag/mailbagit-gui/> as well as a “guided” interface<https://archives.albany.edu/mailbag/mailbagit-guided/> that is designed for users that are less comfortable using the command line. You can find out how to install and use mailbagit on the project website<https://archives.albany.edu/mailbag/>.
