Research infrastructure is costly to build — and to maintain. Systems
require investment and ongoing maintenance for the community to really
benefit from and trust them. This month’s virtual conference, on Open
Source and Community-Supported Infrastructure
<https://www.niso.org/events/2022/08/open-source-and-community-supported-infrastructure>,
will bring together a group of open source experts and advocates from
libraries and other organizations to discuss how to best sustain key
information infrastructure. What’s working, what’s not? What are the best
practices for working across organizational boundaries? How can community
leaders encourage the commitment needed to ensure sustainability as well as
development? And more…

This virtual conference takes place from 12.00 - 4.00pm Eastern Daylight
Time (US/Canada) on Wednesday, August 24. Speakers include: Marshall
Breeding, Library Technology; Kristen Eschenfelder, University of
Wisconsin; Arran Griffith, LYRASIS; Evviva Weinraub Lajoie, University at
Buffalo; and Peter Murray, Index Data.
