Dear DLF Community,

Don’t Shoot Portland, the University of Oregon Libraries, and Holding Contemporary would like to invite you to the Memory Work for Black Lives Online Plenary<https://memorywork.uoregon.edu/plenary/>. Join us for this free online event happening on October 21st and 22nd, 2022.

Memory Work for Black Lives brings Black activists, community members, speakers, librarians, and archivists together to discuss the power of Black archival memory and community archives. Building on the community archiving work that Don’t Shoot Portland has done over the past decade; this event will give an overview of how to digitally approach preserving historical memories and how to build your own personal archive. Panelists and instructors will engage in conversations about the need for diversity in libraries and archives and explore Black memory workers' practice of documenting their history as a labor of love, an act of recovery, and a source of complicated joy. We’re excited to welcome plenary speakers Dr. Aisha Johnson, Sierra King, Makiba Foster, Rachael Winston, Snowden Becker, and Danielle Mericle who will share their experiences, approaches, and archival practices.
