World Digital Preservation Day 2022 (WDPD2022) is just 4 weeks away, on Thursday 3rd November!

Data creators, curators and consumers from around the world are invited to celebrate digital preservation by participating in a whole day dedicated to celebrating all of the benefits and opportunities enabled by the hard work of our dynamic and collaborative community. Continuing the theme 'Data For All, For Good, Forever' from another celebration - iPres 2022 - World Digital Preservation Day is an opportunity to showcase how digital preservation enables 'digits to flourish.'

Amongst your own activities, make sure you set aside plenty of time for reading this World Digital Preservation Day, as the Digital Preservation Coalition plans to release a revision of the BitList of Digitally Endangered Species AND the conference proceedings from iPres 2022 as part of the celebrations.

More suggestions for ways to participate are as follows ...but, anything goes on WDPD2022, so let us know what you have planned!

  * Bake/Make/Craft: We know the digital preservation community is a crafty bunch. Can you bake an at-risk digital material, crochet a file format, or reconstruct a process in Lego? Share your pictures with us on social media using the hashtags #BitListBakeOff and/or #WDPD2022.

  * Sing and dance: Channel your musical talents into creating a digital preservation song to share on World Digital Preservation Day. Need inspiration? Just look at some of the awesome contributions from previous years...<https://www.dpconline.org/events/wdpd-musical>

  * Blog: Use your blogging platform to highlight the collections you are working on, share a workflow or simply to explain how you got started in digital preservation.

  * Hold an event: What better way to let others in and around your organisation know about digital preservation than to hold a seminar, webinar, live stream, watching party, hackathon or games room! If you would like your event to be added to our WDPD2022 events listing on the DPC website, submit details to [log in to unmask] by Wednesday 20th October.

  * Share on social media: Highlight the collections you are working on by sharing photos, videos, and updates about your own digital preservation day using the social media platform of your choice OR take over the corporate social media account for the day to let others outside our community know about digital preservation. Remember to use the hashtag #WDPD2022!

WDPD2022 is just one of the ways the Digital Preservation Coalition helps raise awareness of the global strategic, cultural and technological issues which make up the digital preservation challenge. The Coalition also supports its international members through other advocacy activities, workforce development, capacity-building and partnership; helping members to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services and derive enduring value from their digital collections.
