Please join us at 3 PM EST on April 4th for a virtual Project Showcase from five members of the Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program’s Phase 1, Cohort 1 group (aka Hui ʻUmeke Kāʻeo). Participants will present on their experiences in the program utilizing various digital preservation assessment tools, including the NDSA Levels, DPC’s Rapid Assessment Model, and the NEDCC’s Peer Assessment Framework, and how assessment results have informed their efforts to improve overall stewardship of their digital collections.

Cohort 1 (Hui ʻUmeke Kāʻeo) is led by peer facilitator Alexis Braun Marks, and features cohort members Brieanah Gouveia (Hawaiʻi State Judiciary - King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center), Gailyn Bopp (Brigham Young University - Hawai'i), Tom Bliss (Outwords Archive), Felecia Moore (LaGrange College), and Jane Fiegel (Tulane University).

The Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program brings together digital preservation specialists and cultural heritage practitioners from under-resourced organizations to collaborate in the preparation of digital preservation self and peer assessments. This project aims to provide practicing librarians and archivists who are struggling to provide ongoing care for their digital collections with a structured opportunity to learn about digital preservation concepts, as well as the chance to learn about assessment procedures and put them into action in a supportive environment. This program is generously funded by a Laura Bush 21stCentury Librarian grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Cohort sponsor organizations for this phase of the project include the Association of Hawai’I Archivists, Amigos Library Services, and Northwest Archivists, Inc.

We will share registration details for the project showcase events for the other two cohorts who are currently participating in the program at a later date. Cohort 2 will present in May and Cohort 3 will present in June.

Register for the event here.

Cordially,

The Digital POWRR Peer Assessment team
