Fantastic Futures Canberra 2024: Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives and Museums

The International Conference on AI for Libraries, Archives, and Museums (AI4LAM: http://ai4lam.org/) will take place at the National Film & Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) on October 16-18, 2024, in Canberra Australia.

Held over three days in Australia’s capital city Canberra, participants in the Fantastic Futures conference, will explore the current state and potential futures for artificial intelligence and generative AI within the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums). FF24 will feature a mix of international and Australian keynote presentations, workshops, demonstrations, academic papers and creative commissions. Site visits to national cultural institutions in Canberra will be available on the days prior to the conference for international and interstate visitors.

Although the conference is primarily an in-person event, all formal sessions will be livestreamed, recorded and made available on the NFSA’s website after the event. For professionals and academics working in the cultural and research sectors around the world eager to learn about and share their work with AI and cultural data, this conference is where the innovation, insights and lessons learned are shared.

Tickets will be priced at approximately $150USD, less for students. Call for proposals will be launched in 2024, and the NFSA welcomes potential partners to get in touch in advance.
