As part of Code4Lib's ongoing commitment to reducing economic barriers and
ensuring balanced representation from underrepresented groups, we are
pleased to announce that we are now seeking applicants for our 2024
Diversity Scholarship program
<https://2024.code4lib.org/general-info/scholarships>. The Code4Lib
Scholarship Committee seeks to award several Diversity Scholarships based
on merit and need. Domestic applicants (in the United States and Canada)
can receive up to $1,500 USD, while international applicants can be awarded
up to $3,000 USD. These funds are intended to cover travel expenses, hotel
accommodations, and conference fees for the 2024 Code4Lib Conference in Ann
Arbor, MI. The deadline for applications is *Friday February 9th , 2024,
11:59 PM PST*.

Scholarship recipients will have their conference registration and hotel
accommodations covered upfront. Other incidentals, like local
transportation and meals, will be reimbursed up to the awarded amount.
Reimbursements will be processed at the conference. Additionally, there is
an option to share accommodations with fellow scholarship awardees or other
conference attendees. For inquiries about these arrangements, please
contact *[log in to unmask]
<[log in to unmask]>*. Our goal is to ensure that
financial concerns do not discourage anyone from applying.

We do not expect scholarship recipients to be responsible for being an
ambassador for their group or an educator of others during the conference.
While learning and exchange may happen as a result of interactions between
participants, scholarship recipients are encouraged to focus on getting the
most out of their experience and have no special duties or obligations
apart from conference attendance, engaged participation to their comfort
level, and giving us feedback on their experience.

*About Code4Lib*
Code4Lib <https://code4lib.org/> seeks to maintain a vibrant and diverse
community of technology-minded folks. We are developers and technologists
for libraries, museums, and archives who have a strong commitment to open
technologies. Code4Lib began as a simple mailing list
<https://wiki.code4lib.org/MailingList> in 2003 and held its first
face-to-face meeting in 2005 in Chicago. The first official annual
conference was held in 2006 in Corvallis, Oregon. Nowadays, the Code4Lib
community gravitates around the same listserv, an annual conference with
hundreds of attendees, as well as IRC and Slack channels
<https://code4lib.org/irc/> that are open for anyone to join. We are
dedicated to being a diverse and inclusive community of technologists
seeking to share ideas and build collaboration. You can read our Code of
Conduct
