The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the University of Pittsburgh Library System this week, as they become the Coalition's newest Associate Member! "Joining the DPC will unlock not only a wealth of information and training resources for us, but also give us a way to build relationships with international experts and join in the global knowledge exchange," explains Kari May, Digital Archives & Preservation Librarian for the University of Pittsburgh Library System. "A DPC membership will help us refine and improve our digital preservation program by expanding our understanding and perspectives on tools, processes, practices, and strategies." The University of Pittsburgh Library System joins the Coalition as the DPC shares exciting news that it is extending its global presence to the Americas<https://www.dpconline.org/news/dpc-extends-global-presence-to-the-usa>. With an organizational home provided by USA-based ITHAKA, recruitment is currently underway to employ a new DPC-dedicated member of staff<https://www.dpconline.org/news/dpc-americas-now-recruiting> to support and expand the established and existing digital preservation community in the region; complementing, celebrating and sustaining their activities and amplifying them for the benefit of the DPC's global membership. As an Associate Member of the DPC, University of Pittsburgh Library System will join the DPC's new Americas Stakeholder Group, formed as part of its governance structure to ensure that Members in the region have the opportunity to inform the development of the DPC's Americas program and have input to the broader strategic direction of the Coalition.
