Apologies for cross-postings

The Sheridan Libraries at Johns Hopkins University has reopened the

position has been extended to three years with the possibility of
further support (as described in the position description below).

Please share this job description with anyone who you feel would be

extent, programming support for the Library Digital Programs' (LDP)
multi-platform - primarily Mac OS X and Linux, but also some Windows -
environment. Responsibilities include installing, configuring,
maintaining, and securing multi-platform workstations, servers, and
clients; installing and configuring various database, Java, and digital
library software (e.g., DSpace*, Fedora**); supporting software
development and deployment for the LDP; upgrading operating system
software; managing system performance, backups, and storage allocation;
integrating and monitoring services across multiple platforms;
programming support for optimizing system performance; and contacting
software/hardware vendors and developers, as appropriate and needed.
The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and
its collections at the John Work Garrett Library, the George Peabody
Library, and the Albert D. Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room. Its
primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts
& Sciences, Engineering, and Professional Studies in Business &
Education. A key partner in the academic enterprise, the library is a
leader in the innovative application of information technology and has
implemented notable diversity and organizational development programs.
The Sheridan Libraries are strongly committed to diversity. A strategic
goal of the Libraries is to "work toward achieving diversity when
recruiting new and promoting existing staff." The Libraries prize
initiative, creativity, professionalism, and teamwork. The Sheridan
Libraries have now secured sufficient funds to support this position
for three years. It is our goal to fund this as a long-term, ongoing
position. We continue to work on identifying funds to support this
goal.
