as I mentioned on the webex here is the details regarding geoscience data

We would welcome an abstract and a talk describing your view of the future of data management and preservation policies for our Geological Society of America (GSA) Topical Session 195 (T195), Data Preservation and Management in the Coming Decade. The session is co-sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Association of American State Geologists (AASG). GSA is a broad based scientific society with 24,000 members. We expect 7,000 or more geoscientists representing all disciplines to attend the annual meeting.

This is GSA's 123rd Annual Meeting and it will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, October 3 through October 12, 2011.

This session will explore integrating digital and physical information, future directions in geoscience preservation policies, and challenges of sharing and managing data within the geosciences and among other entities including libraries, data centers, and commercial publishers. We are inviting representatives from Federal and State governments, private industry, academia, and nonprofit organizations to share their knowledge and experience and come together as a community dedicated to preserving and serving geoscience information and data. We think your perspective could be an important addition and we'd like to encourage you to submit an abstract. If you are unable to attend, but can recommend another colleague for us to talk to, we welcome your input.

To view GSA's technical program and session descriptions, please go to "Technical Program" at http://www.geosociety.org/meetings/2011/techprog.htm . In the menu to the right is a link to
"Topical Sessions". On this page, you can use your browser's "find" feature to search for "T195". It is also possible to scroll down to T195, though there are 217 sessions so T195 will be near the bottom. It is possible to go directly to the abstract submission page by following the hyperlink "Submit an abstract to this session" below the session description.
