Midwinter Meeting Announcement
AVIAC will meet on:
Friday, January 9, 2004
Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm
Location: San Diego Convention Center, Room 17A/B
This meeting will focus on the new NISO Networked Reference Protocol
and the trial implementations to be launched in first quarter 2004.
Come to this session to find out how this new standard can be the
cornerstone of expanding your company's services and keeping you
competitive.
This standard enables diverse networked and digital reference systems
to interoperate between each other by using standardized messages and
protocols.
Members of the NISO standards committee developing the protocol will
present a brief overview of the standard and its current status. The
remainder of the meeting will be open for questions, comments, and
discussion of what the standard will mean for the library automation
field and for companies and organizations that are developing and
deploying networked based digital reference systems.
The committee's draft documents are available at
http://www.loc.gov/standards/netref/
I encourage you to review these documents in preparation for the meeting
so you will be familiar with the developing standard and can contribute
to the discussions.
