Library Associates Companies seeks qualified candidates for the position
of Head of Circulation and Systems at an academic library. This position
may run two years, or a year as a temp to hire assignment.
Requirements:
* Manages automated (Ex Libris) circulation department services,
library systems, and a variety of technologies in a team environment.
* Plans, implements and manages library technology services and
projects in conjunction with librarians and University technology staff.
* Installs, maintains and supports software utilities and
applications associated with the Ex Libris Aleph 500 ILS and other
library-specific applications.
* Oversees the purchasing of system components.
* Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting of library software applications.
* Prioritizes and escalates issues for resolution and represents
the Library in all technology-related activities at the local, regional,
state, and national levels.
* Serves at the reference desk, participates in library
instruction, liaison programs, and other library initiatives.
* As a faculty member, participates in affiliated institutions
libraries' initiatives, and other faculty activities as appropriate.
* Performs additional duties as needed or requested
Qualifications:
* ALA-accreditation MLS or a MIS degree, required.
* Minimum of five years library and/or supervisory experience
desirable, especially in circulation and/or systems environments;
* Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
* Ability to plan, and independently perform, specialized
administrative tasks and work with the general public, including, but
not limited to, university students, staff, and faculty.
