Please see below a posting for a Digital Assets Archivist at Laurentian
University, in Sudbury, Ontario. Anticipating the obvious question, the
salary for the position would be based on a General Librarian position
as described in article 4.00 of the Laurentian University Collective
Agreement: http://lufapul.ca/pdf/col_agree_05_08_e.pdf (see "Salary

The Laurentian University Library has a vacancy for a Digital Assets
Archivist. The appointee will be responsible for the management,
preservation, and presentation of collections of digital objects. The
position is a limited term appointment (September 1, 2007, to June 30,
2008)

Responsibilities: The appointee, reporting to the Director of the
Library, will work in close collaboration with two librarians
responsible for digitization projects.
  1.Store and describe sets of digitized objects in the Laurentian
University digital archives (built on DSpace).
  2.Create Web exhibits that highlight the content of the Laurentian
University digital archives.
  3.Work with OurOntario and AlouetteCanada to contribute the content
from the Laurentian University digital archives.
  4.Write proposals for grants supporting further digitization and
presentation of fonds of local and national interest.
  5.Develop policies and procedures for storing and describing objects
digitized from classically described archival fonds in the Laurentian
University digital archives.

Qualifications:
  * Master*s degree in Archival Science or Information Science;
  * experience in digitization projects is preferred;
  * project management experience is an asset;
  * excellent knowledge of sofwares in the field of Information
Science;
  * experience in web design;
  * good interpersonal skills and diplomacy, initiative, creativity,
flexibility, adaptability and an openness to new approaches;
  * ability to multitask, analyze, and summarize; work as a team
member, independently, or under pressure;
  * ability to work fluently, oral and written, in both official
languages (French/English) is preferred.

La bibliothèque de l*Université Laurentienne recherche un ou une
archiviste responsable de la gestion, la préservation et la diffusion de
fonds d*archives numérisés. Il s*agit d*une nomination à durée
limitée (du 1 septembre 2007 au 30 juin 2008).

Fonctions : La ou le titulaire relève du directeur de la bibliothèque
et travaille en étroite collaboration avec deux bibliothécaires
responsables de projets de numérisation.
Saisir et décrire des objets numériques dans les archives numériques de
l*Université Laurentienne (DSpace);
Créer des expositions virtuelles qui mettent en valeur les fonds
numérisés de l*Université Laurentienne;
Travailler avec OurOntario et AlouetteCanada pour y contribuer le
contenu de fonds numérisés;
Rédiger des demandes de subvention visant à poursuivre la numérisation
et à maintenir la diffusion de fonds locaux d*intérêt national;
Développer des politiques et des procédures pour le stockage de
documents numérisés à partir de fonds d*archive déjà traités;
Exigences :
  * maîtrise en archivistique ou en sciences de l*information;
  * expérience dans des projets de numérisations est souhaitable;
  * expérience dans la gestion de projet serait un atout;
  * excellente connaissance de logiciels dans le domaine des sciences
de l*information;
  * expérience dans la conception de sites Web;
  * entregent et diplomatie, initiative et créativité, flexibililté et
souplesse et ouverture aux approches innovatrices;
  * capacité d*effectuer plusieurs tâches à la fois, de faire
l*analyse et la synthèse, de travailler en équipe et de façon
autonome;
  * capacité de travailler entièrement dans les deux langues
officielles (anglais et français), tant à l*oral qu*à l*écrit est
souhaitable.
