JHOVE2 PROJECT DEVELOPER
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
JHOVE2 PROJECT DEVELOPER
Job #: 20080159
The Digital Preservation Program of the California Digital Library (CDL)
is engaged in a collaborative, multi-institutional project to develop
JHOVE2, a next-generation architectural framework for format-aware
digital object preservation processing. Working with a dynamic team of
developers at the CDL, the Library of Congress, Portico, and Stanford
University, the incumbent will help to build upon the success of the
widely-used JHOVE tool for format identification, validation, and
characterization. The resulting open source JHOVE2 system, including
significant new features and performance enhancements, will play a
central role in the preservation systems and workflows of international
digital memory institutions and programs. This is a two-year grant
funded position.
The California Digital Library was established in 1997 to work
collaboratively with the ten campuses of the University of California
system on the design, creation, and implementation of innovative systems
that support the research, learning, and teaching mission of the UC
system and its partners. The CDL assumes a leadership role in providing
digital content to the citizens of the state of California, develops
systems that encourage UC resource sharing, and provides for a focus for
the development of strategies and initiatives that guide the
University's libraries through the transition to the digital future. The
CDL enthusiastically supports open source development as an effective
means to contribute meaningful tools and capabilities to the digital
library community.
