Boston Public Library Career Opportunity

Information Technology (IT) Operations Manager

The BPL seeks a customer driven and technically experienced individual to directly manage the help desk and technical support staff, to meet service levels and serve internal and remote library users in new and creative ways. The IT Operations Manager is responsible for developing, updating, overseeing and directing help desk and technical support operations under the direction of the CTO, to ensure a future-facing, functioning and optimal end user computing experience across the Boston Public Library’s branch library locations, the central library and its departments; supporting staff and public computing programs onsite and online. The successful candidate will be able to participate in the hands-on management of critical help desk systems and in problem resolution. Position schedule may require working some evenings and weekends and will participate on the department on-call schedule.
 
Bachelor’s Degree, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (with relevant Server or Desktop Specializations) required. In exceptional instances, specialized education, training and/or experience may be substituted for part or all of the educational requirements. Additional training in systems administration, desktop computing and client systems management are highly desirable. Minimum of at least five years of managing staff in a technology support function, plus direct technology-related experience  providing support of end user computing systems; experience in troubleshooting hardware, software and ability to diagnose and provide solutions within the IT systems environment.  
 
Must clear CORI and be a resident of the City of Boston upon first day of hire.
