Driving to the IND airport from Bloomington takes just over an hour, although the shuttle may take a little longer (the Bloomington Shuttle takes a little over 90 minutes as it makes several additional stops after leaving the IMU; I'm not sure about the Star of America). My experience with the shuttles is that they are generally pretty good about being on time even when the weather is not great.
Not counting any time spent retrieving luggage, you can usually make it from your gate to the shuttle fairly comfortably in half an hour or less upon arrival, though I like to allow more time just to be safe.
I would say the 10:40 shuttle should work to get you to your 2:37 flight; especially with international travel, I wouldn't want to cut it much closer than that. The IND airport is very new and quite nice, with lots of places to shop or get a bite to eat (and I believe the wi-fi is still free - someone will correct me if I'm wrong!) so if you took an earlier shuttle you would not have to worry too much about filling the extra time.
We Bloomingtonians look forward to meeting all of you!

Subject: Re: [CODE4LIB] code4lib 2011 Update
Thanks for the update and shuttle times. I'll be flying in to IND on
Saturday at 6:52 PM so hopefully I'll make it for the 8:20 Star of
America shuttle. Anyone else coming around the same time? Any idea how
long does it take to get to the IND airport from Bloomington? I have a
flight back to Copenhagen on Thursday at 2:37 PM. What's the preferred
shuttle then, the 10:40 one?

> Our central wireless group has recommended that if everyone has an 802.11n card (5Ghz radio spectrum) in their device that they will likely have a much better experience for connectivity - it does not mean that you have to have one it will just be better download speeds etc. If you use a newer apple product that is the case - if you have an n card in a windows7 device you can in most cases set that for being n channel radio all the time. Everyone will have their own IU wireless login for the duration of the event that will work across the entire IU campus. We are also installing some wired ethernet connections for folks who need to make large downloads etc. within Alumni Hall and will have dedicated wired connections for all speakers.
> Shuttle Service from IND (Indianapolis International Airport) to Bloomington - There are two shuttle's that can bring you from IND to the IU Indiana Memorial Union and to some other hotels in Bloomington as well. We have contacted these groups to let them know the general size of our group etc. These shuttle's handle large groups all the time - however, if you plan to use these shuttle's I would recommend setting this up before hand especially if you are taking the shuttle back to IND on Thurs Feb 10 immediately after the conference - this way the shuttle's can plan for a larger bus if needed.
