I strongly suggest taking a look at GATE (http://gate.ac.uk) and UIMA (
http://uima-framework.sourceforge.net/ ).
GATE can use UIMA workflows as processing resource. UIMA can use GATE
workflows as processing resources.
Don't cross the streams...
