Do you love to develop and continually improve elegant, highly functional, user-focused websites?

Can you whip up delightful, well-designed graphics in your sleep?

Wouldn't you jump at the chance to focus your work exclusively on a library's Web services and development, not be interrupted by other projects and still get to leave all the content development and maintenance to someone else?

Johnson County Library seeks a creative and committed Web Designer with primary responsibility for developing graphics, design, interface and full functionality of the Library's website, mobile access, online catalog, and related Web services that are provided to patrons by the Johnson County Library or branded as Library-sponsored. In addition to developing all the CSS, writing code to interface with APIs, and developing other code such as JavaScript, the Web Designer helps to develop and conduct usability studies to ensure that the Library's Web services are customer friendly and easily accessible.

As a member of the Web Content Team, the position reports to the Web Content Manager and works with four Web Content Developers as well as other library colleagues, patrons, and community partners to provide access to ideas, information, experiences and materials that support and enrich people's lives.

Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 2 or more years Web design experience; 1 or more years experience developing, implementing, and analyzing usability studies; 2 or more years experience designing and implementing graphic design in an online environment; 2 or more years experience utilizing CSS, JavaScript, and XHTML to develop accessible, media rich websites; Additional qualifications include understanding of information architecture, familiarity with content management systems, expertise developing and analyzing usability studies, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, outstanding interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills, and the ability to learn new technologies and to become familiar with code quickly.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in the following field(s) of study: Computer Science, User interface design, Information Technology, or Graphic Design, Master's degree in the following field(s) of study: Library science, User interface design, or Information architecture. Experience in libraries, experience with project management, experience with PHP, expertise with Web analytics tools and expertise administering Drupal and Wordpress.

Salary range: $35,777 to $51,678, based on qualifications. Applications due by Aug. 25, 2011.
