Index Data is a consulting and software business specializing in
networked information retrieval, indexing, searching, and information
systems integration.

We are looking for a part-time Connectivity/integration specialist --
with the possibility of moving to full time over time. Part of our work
is to integrate different information systems. This involves a variety
of different tasks, including testing Z39.50/SRU targets using our
diagnostic tools, building Connectors for websites using our visual
integration environment, working with proprietary APIs, and processing
data sets in batch mode.

About us: We are a virtual office with people of diverse backgrounds
working together from five countries, most of us working from home, but
meeting in different locations as required. We are passionate, creative,
and highly specialized in the area of information discovery in the
library/publishing field, and our customers businesses, library
consortia, and special libraries that build applications based on our
tools. We have had a strong presence in the library open source
community since our beginning, 17 years ago.

Preferred skills:

- Extensive experience with a scripting environment -- especially for
text and data processing.
- Strong experience with regular expressions.
- A good understanding of web site technologies: HTML, frames,
JavaScript, etc.
- Familiarity with XML -- ideally a knowledge of XPath and XSLT.
- Familiarity with bibliographic metadata.

The ideal candidate may be someone who combines practical experience
cataloging or curating data sets with scripting/mashup experience.

You are: Detail-oriented, self-starting, and passionate about making
stuff work, and work well. Comfortable managing your own time and
working from home (Skype is our office), with the occasional trip to
team meetings. In possession of a good sense of humor, a fierce
determination, and the patience of an angel.

We offer flexibility in terms of hours and location of work, an
interesting set of challenges, and an amazing group of colleagues.

Please send CV and cover letter to [log in to unmask]
