Definitely stick with decimal degrees (-122.61458), because dealing
with minutes and seconds (122° 36' 52.5" W) is a real nuisance and
unnecessarily complicates everything.
If you are looking to embed coordinates within a data format like
JSON, you might want to look at GeoJSON:
