Responsible for taking the leadership role in the negotiation, procurement,
licensing, renewal and management of electronic information resources
purchased by Purdue Calumet as well as consortia resources. Collaborates with
the other librarians in developing licensing policies and
workflows. Serves as a liaison to vendors regarding
electronic resource trials, acquisitions, licensing issues;
provide feedback about electronic resource infrastructure compatibility;
respond to users' issues with electronic resources in a timely manner;
recommend, and facilitate improvements to existing tools and workflows.
Collects and analyzes usage statistics for electronic resources; manages the
display and promotion of resources in various library systems and website;
participate in assessment of electronic resources.
Responsible for maintaining the knowledgebase and maintaining current
awareness of emerging trends and best practices in resource access and
discoverability; and serves on the library-wide collection development
team. Creates original and complex derivative (copy)
cataloging MARC catalog records for all Purdue Calumet Library's materials in
all formats (monographs, continuing and integrated resources, microforms, non-
book, electronic, etc.) into the OCLC WorldCat database and Purdue Calumet's
integrated library system (Voyager). Maintains an effective
flow of materials in and out of the unit according to local standards and
expectations. Maintains knowledge base for electronic
collections. Maintains established local standards for
quality of work and productivity. Oversees the daily operation of Acquisitions
Unit, including supervising 1.0 FTE clerical staff.
Required:
* Master's degree in library science with a specialization in electronic resources from an ALA-accredited institution.
* Two years of experience as an electronic resource manager of linking technology (Open URL resolver) and discovery tools
* Two years of experience in an academic library
* Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Must have the capacity to respond effectively to change, including changing technologies, needs, and priorities
* Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize
* Must have a working knowledge of non-MARC Metadata schema such as Dublin Core, VRA.
* Must have experience with negotiating license agreements for electronic resources and database collections
* Must have experience managing and promoting an institutional repository with repository management software like DSPACE
* Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, manipulate, and provide meaningful interpretation of data related to serials and electronic resources
* Experience with non-traditional and/or first-generation college students
* Must have at least two years of supervisory experience.
* Must have comprehensive familiarity with database and web-based resource managemen
* Must have experience with Primo (or similar product), Primo Central, SFX, and institutional repository software
* Ability to work with vendors and publishers to establish good working relationships that lead to effective solutions for the campus
* Must have working knowledge of national cataloging standards such as AACR2 and LCSH
* Ability to pay excellent attention to accuracy and detail combined with high productivity
* Must possess strong supervisory skills as well as analytical and organizational skills
* Ability to set and adjust priorities and workflows in a dynamic and changing environment and accept new challenges in order to realize departmental and library goals
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team emphasizing a good balance between quality and productivity
* Must have demonstrated a continuing commitment to professional development and growth.
