Located just outside Washington, DC, Noll Historical Consulting was
established in 1999 to provide historical research, collections management,
and archival services to clients such as Navigator Military Publishing, the
Harvard Business School, the British Broadcasting Corporation, and the US
Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
While Noll Historical Consulting has provided services as diverse as
researching World War II bombing raids, archiving the correspondence of
leading US physicists, and lecturing at the Smithsonian on Edwardian England,
it specializes in the study of the world of US Government finance and monetary
development.
Noll Historical Consulting has a long term relationship with the US Bureau of
Engraving and Printing, running its history program, supporting the efforts of
the Office of External Relations, providing historical insight to management,
and researching and maintaining the Bureau's vast collection of bank notes,
Treasury securities, stamps, and other items. Noll Historical Consulting has
also worked with the Treasury, the Bureau of the Public Debt, and other
Treasury agencies, helping them to use their history to meet their immediate
needs and to plan for the future.
A new position with a private consulting firm is available in the historic
collections of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Department of the
Treasury. The collections of the BEP consist of original artwork, photographs,
designs, engravings, and manuscript material produced at the BEP in
conjunction with the design and production of stamps, currency, bonds,
certificates, and other miscellaneous items from the Civil War to the present.
These are housed in the Historical Resource Center (HRC) of the BEP. This open
position is fulltime and will commence upon applicant's receipt of a security
clearance. This is a non-Federal position.
The mission of the Curator, Information Services, is to organize, maintain,
and develop the Historical Resource Center library of physical and electronic
resources used in research, to create systems that allow for the ready use of
these resources by HRC staff and other researchers, and to oversee the
answering of queries coming into the HRC. This is a chance to create wholly
new information systems from the ground up.
The Curator will take overall direction from the Historian and Lead Curator in
the performance of his or her duties, but will largely perform them without
supervision. Work will be performed on site in downtown Washington, DC, in a
high-security facility.
