The University Libraries (UL) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) invites
applications and nominations to fill the one-year temporary position of
Library Information and Emerging Technologies, Instructor.
Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Instructor of Library Information and
Emerging Technologies manages and participates in the day-to-day operations of
the Library Information & Technology Services (LITS) unit. The primary
responsibilities of the LITS Instructor are to stay current in emerging
technologies, to oversee integrated library systems and to work closely with
all UL faculty and staff to advance digital initiatives by managing digital
projects and systems. Preference will be given to
candidates with experience developing innovative web applications and learning
objects, creating digital library collections or managing institutional
repositories. The LITS Instructor also works with all library departments in
supporting the directions of the UL Strategic Plan related to information
technology. LITS provides computing and technological
support for the University Libraries (UL), including desktop support, the
integrated library system, web development, digital initiatives, and more.
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
* Minimum of (3) three years experience developing and managing integrated library systems and related computer operations in an academic library.
* Demonstrated supervisory skills.
* Ability to successfully plan, track, organize, and manage multiple detail-oriented projects.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in developing creative and innovative web applications and learning objects supporting teaching and learning.
* Experience with creating digital library collections and managing an institutional repository.
* Knowledge of developments in digital preservation, scholarly communication and their application to library services and information access.
Salary and Benefits
12-month, one year temporary position at the rank of
Instructor. Competitive salary in keeping with peer
institution libraries for rank and candidate's experience and
credentials.
