Reporting to the Assistant Director for Collection Management, the Systems
Librarian is responsible for planning, coordination, and administration of the
Library Systems Department, providing all library network and technical
support. Maintains knowledge of developing technologies, bibliographic
resources and tools as appropriate to library operations. Monitors, directs,
and evaluates the work of Systems staff to ensure quality, adherence to
policies and procedures, accuracy and productivity, and a collaborative
working environment. Provide reference and technical support to users,
including some evening and weekend reference duty.

at Tarleton State University is seeking a Systems librarian. Reporting to the
Assistant Director for Collection Management, the Systems Librarian is
responsible for planning, coordination, and administration of the Library
Systems Department, providing all library network and technical support.
Maintains knowledge of developing technologies, bibliographic resources and
tools as appropriate to library operations. Also provides general reference
desk coverage as needed.
Requires at least 2 years' experience in the management of an ILS or advanced
use of ILS applications, proxy server, link resolvers, discovery tools, and
digital resources; and working knowledge of web development tools and MARC
record structure.
Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum
Qualifications) Master's of Library Science or equivalent
degree from an American Library Association accredited university or college;
at least 2 years' experience in the management of an ILS or advanced use of
ILS applications (preferably SirsiDynix Symphony); working knowledge of web
development tools (HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, SQL) and Web 2.0 technologies;
administering and troubleshooting experience with a proxy server, link
resolvers, and digital resources including databases and discovery tools; and
working knowledge of MARC record structure.
Preferred education/experience/skills (additional
qualifications): Experience in developing system
requirements, planning and managing system implementation; experience with
Perl, Java, HTML, SQL; and advanced knowledge of web site
This is a twelve-month, professional appointment starting at $41,124 plus
benefits, including choice of group medical and retirement programs;
approximately 14 state holidays; paid vacation and sick leave; tuition
program; and no state or local income tax.
