Required Qualifications:
ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree or Master's equivalent in related field.
Relevant experience working with archival collections.
Desired Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in English or History
- At least two years experience cataloging rare books or special collections
- Working knowledge of Latin; working knowledge of German, Spanish or French
- Working knowledge of book history

Description:
Rare Books Cataloger and Curator
Reporting to the Associate Director of Museums, Archives & Rare Books, the
Rare Books and Manuscripts Cataloger and Curator will be responsible for
cataloging the collection and working on special projects including enriched
cataloging and developing specialized bibliographies. The Cataloger/Curator
will perform stacks maintenance and inventory projects, monitor environmental
controls and conduct periodic conservation assessments.
Working closely with the Archives Specialist and Rare Books Coordinator, the
Cataloger/Curator will engage in outreach duties including giving tours and
presentations of the Gallery and exhibits for students, staff and community
groups and working with faculty to develop special topic presentations and
student projects.
The Cataloger/Curator will assist and collaborate with members of the Museums,
Archives & Rare Books team to produce exhibits, develop outreach and
promotional materials, and plan events.
The Cataloger/Curator will make recommendations for the acquisition of rare
books and manuscripts within established collecting areas as well as suggest
areas for future growth. In addition the position will assist in making
purchasing decisions, soliciting donations and gifts, and cultivating
relationships with donors.
