We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated technical lead to join our
team of developers. This is an exciting time of change for the libraries, with
digital services pivotal to the delivery of innovative services to readers,
researchers and the wider community. The discovery and accessibility of the
ever increasing volume and variety of resources is a significant challenge for
the Digital Library that requires both innovative solutions and technical
leadership.
The successful applicant will have primary responsibility for the support and
development of the library's resource discovery solutions, working closely
with users, vendors and other research institutions to improve the services
offered. They will play a key role in the technical governance of the
department helping to ensure that the solutions delivered support the
strategic aims of the library and University.
Applications are invited from experienced development leads with a strong
background in web-based developments, ideally with demonstrable knowledge of
the application and implementation of search solutions. Your technical skills
will include some or all of the following: HTML5, CSS, XML, PHP, JSON, Perl,
SQL, Apache Solr/Lucene.
Previous experience working in a research library would be beneficial but not
essential.

Disclosure Scotland check as well as a financial background check. The
