he Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Information & Research Services
provides leadership, vision, and management for the OHSU Library's education
and research services, access services, and outreach programs.
As a senior member of the library management team, this position takes an
active part in strategic planning; sets goals and objectives; serves on the
Library Council which includes representatives from management, professional,
and classified staff; supervises 6.0 FTE of professional, 6.3 FTE of
classified, and 6.0 FTE of student staff; and collaborates with campus,
community, and regional partners to provide services to the OHSU education,
research, and clinical communities, and residents of the State of Oregon.
As a member of the Library Faculty, the AUL for Information & Research
Services participates in planning, policy formation, and decision-making
relating to health sciences services, collections, and technologies. This
position requires scholarship and service that contributes to the
effectiveness of the Library, the University, and the profession.
Job Requirements
Required:
Accredited graduate degree in an appropriate discipline (library and
information science or related area); Eight years of professional experience
in public services in an academic library setting including five years of
supervisory experience; success in mentoring, developing, and leading staff
with a collaborative and open approach; experience with strategic planning and
project management; established successful partnerships with campus
organizations; strong customer service orientation with excellent oral,
written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated
understanding of the challenges facing academic health center libraries and
familiarity with emerging topics; demonstrated familiarity with core health
science reference tools; success in obtaining grant funding; evidence of
initiative and flexibility; experience with change management; record of
scholarship, teaching, and/or active leadership in professional organizations.
Preferred:
Experience in an academic health sciences library setting; membership in the
Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP); experience providing
reference, education, circulation, and interlibrary loan services; documented
familiarity with current collection development practices; diversity of
scholarly activities; evidence of familiarity with user experience in
libraries.
