Bryn Mawr College invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the
position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). Bryn Mawr has
libraries of considerable stature and depth, and extensive and sophisticated
technology services, and the CIO provides leadership for both of these areas,
heading an organizational unit known as Information Services (IS) that is a
merger of Libraries and Information Technology. Bryn Mawr's
merged organization is distinctive in the success it has achieved in
establishing a fully integrated environment, and there is full campus
commitment to this structure. The new CIO will lead the
pursuit of the creative strategic opportunities that a merged unit
provides. He or she will succeed Elliott Shore who provided
outstanding service in this role since 2002, and who has become the Executive
Director of the Association of Research Libraries.

Bryn Mawr is one of the world's most distinguished colleges, with over 1,300
undergraduate women and 400 graduate students on the College's historic campus
in suburban Philadelphia, studying with leading scholars and conducting
advanced research. The CIO will contribute to fulfilling
the College's vision for the future of education by supporting the work of
faculty and students, maximizing the benefits of technology for learning and
scholarship. The CIO will support administrative functions College-wide by
providing enterprise management and the foundation for data
analytics. Beyond Bryn Mawr, the CIO will continue to build
strategic and operational partnerships with its sister institutions, Haverford
College and Swarthmore College, both in library collaboration and in projects
that seek greater administrative efficiencies and
economies. These institutional partnerships are virtually
unique in American higher education and are points of pride for the three
colleges and a model for other institutions to follow.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a strong leader and manager who
has a full understanding of both information technology and libraries, and who
is able to articulate and implement a vision and strategy to guide the future
of a merged organization in a rapidly changing environment.
He or she will have the ability to work in close partnership with faculty and
other internal and external partners, and to oversee operations and strengthen
coordination across the merged
organization. The CIO will have an
awareness of and appreciation for the unique nature of the College, and be
able to work effectively in that environment. Those
interested in the position should review the Leadership Statement at
http://www.wittkieffer.com/position/bryn-mawr-college/chief-information-
officer/8642, as well as the College's website (www.brynmawr.edu), before
preparing application materials.

Inquiries, nominations and applications are invited. Review
of applications will begin on April 15, and will continue until the position
is filled. For fullest consideration, applicant materials
should be received by that date. Candidates should provide
a curriculum vitae or resume, a letter of application that addresses the
responsibilities and requirements described in the Leadership Statement, and
the names and contact information of five references.
References will not be contacted without prior knowledge and approval of
candidates. These materials should be sent electronically
via e-mail to the College's consultants, Linda Hodges, Nick Giannas and Jean
Dowdall, Ph.D., at
[log in to unmask] Documents that
must be mailed may be sent to Witt/Kieffer, 2015 Spring Road, Suite 510, Oak
Brook IL 60523. The consultants can be reached by telephone
through Ramona Kochis at (630) 575-6124.
