This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Archivist position in the
Campus Operations Department of Oregon State University (OSU).

  
Campus Planning and Development strives to provide the OSU community with
excellent planning, design and construction services. Our goal is to guide the
development of OSU's physical campus in support of its educational and
research initiatives.

  
Historic preservation, natural feature protection, and sustainability all
influence how development may occur on campus. Campus Planning and Development
is involved in all aspects of the capital construction process from the
generation of the initial concept to the final commissioning and close out of
a project .

  
This position manages and maintains the construction document archives for the
Plan Review Center at Oregon State University. The archivist collects,
evaluates, arranges, describes, and preservers archival records, researches
and provides reference services and distribution of those
records.

Position Duties 70% - Evaluates the nature, scope and original order of the
records, functions and types of materials, their relationship and continuity
to similar records. Uses computer aided design application to review record
CD's (CAD and PDF files). Records include surveys, construction documents,
record drawings and files, site plans, and construction manuals. Appraise
records for administrative, legal, fiscal, and research value. Determines
disposition of records, including permanent or temporary storage, appropriate
method to preserve documents, or to transfer to another agency. Arranges,
sorts and categorizes records according to archival principles. Prepares
document descriptions and reference aids for use in locating and retrieving
records. Retrieval of records. Oversees use of archival records to prevent
loss or damage.

  
20% - Provides customer assistance and support for plan review and retrieval.
Researches archival records upon request, reports findings and provides copies
of records, as necessary. Displays plan check construction documents for
review.

  
10% - Misc.: Engages in personal and professional development, research and
skill improvement, and software support and testing. This position provides
lead work to two student interns who assist with managing the database,
entering records, and retrieving records upon request.

Position Duties (continued): Any administrative responsibilities include, but
are not limited to becoming familiar with all construction standards, standard
operating procedures, policies and practices set forth for Campus Operations,
follow all business rules, standard operating procedures, and administrative
practices for work management duties using the current CMMS
system.

Working Conditions/Work Schedule: Typical office environment that requires
lifting, standing, bending, and mobility to store, scan, and retrieve
documents.

Minimum/Required Qualifications A Bachelor's degree with major coursework
(thirty quarter or twenty semester hours) in social research, public
administration, history, political science or a closely related field;

  
OR Two years of college level coursework AND two years of technical or
research experience in archives;

  
OR Four years of technical experience in archives involving automated archival
systems including methods for automated archival storage and retrieval;

  
OR An equivalent combination of training and technical experience in archives.

  
Thorough comprehension and ability to use AutoCAD to open drawings, plot, and
make plan adjustments.

  
Ability to use Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint.

  
Highly organized with experience in database and records management.

  
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  
A familiarity with construction documents and specifications along with design
and construction methodology.

  
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral
expression.

  
Exemplary customer service skills.
