Under the general supervision, is responsible for the support of Pius, Searl's
Hall and Medical Center Library Systems activities including planning,
designing, installing and maintaining library websites, library CMS, and
related databases; provides general support for other Library Systems
functions.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
Designs and maintains the University Libraries web site; maintains, modifies,
and updates existing web site; designs, creates and constructs new web pages
for main site and departmental pages; reviews and verifies accuracy and
functionality of main site; maintains quality control throughout testing and
evaluation of web pages; applies updates as needed; assists library faculty
and staff in uploading their library content to site as appropriate; collects
and analyzes and reports on University Libraries Web statistics.
Is responsible for the development and maintenance of Library/Web 2.0 tools;
maintains University Libraries blogs, RSS feeds, and podcast and video pages;
develops and creates library podcasts and videos; stays current with and
expand knowledge of Library/Web 2.0 tools; manages library social media
presence.
Installs, maintains, and trouble-shoots issues with personal computers and
software used by library staff and faculty as well as patron accessible
systems managed by Library Systems; consults and advises faculty, staff and
patrons on software and hardware related issues.
Works with library departments and staff to develop and implement systems-
related tasks; provides advice and support for new and ongoing projects;
provides training and technical instruction for library faculty and staff
related to the hardware, software and web services used by them; assists
University students, staff, and faculty with issues related to library
technologies.
Participates in the interviewing, hiring, scheduling, supervision, training
and evaluating of Library Systems student assistants.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge in the area of computer science and web based programming languages
such as PHP and JavaScript
Personal computer expertise and technical knowledge of hardware and software
including Linux, UNIX, and MacOS
Verbal and written communication skills
Customer service skills
Interpersonal/human relations skills
Ability to instruct and train in methods and procedures
Ability to manage office information and data processing systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to regularly lift and move 10-20lbs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree; supplemented with one (1) year of related work experience.
Library experience preferred.
