The Wyndham Robertson Library at Hollins University invites applications for
the position of Outreach/Liaison Librarian.
The Outreach/Liaison Librarian, working in collaboration with library and
university colleagues, will provide leadership in the proposal, development,
and execution of library outreach and marketing efforts (examples include, but
not are limited to, orientations, exhibits, events, publications, and
signage). The librarian will communicate library messages
through print and online channels, including the coordination of the library's
social media presence; work with the Information Technology Librarian to
maintain the library website and the library's presence in university portals;
and coordinate forums (e.g., student advisory committee, focus groups, and
surveys) to gather feedback and input from campus community members on library
services and resources. The librarian will also serve as a
liaison librarian providing instruction, reference, and collection development
services to designated academic departments. The librarian
will provide regular reference desk support, including one evening shift per
week during the regular academic year, and may also work occasional evenings
and weekends as needed for special events.
Qualified candidates must have an ALA-accredited master's degree in library
and information science or other related master's degree; knowledge of library
trends, standards, and technology; excellent communication and organizational
skills; a demonstrated commitment to professional development; and the
interest and ability to provide reference, instruction, and collection
development. Successful applicants must also have abilities
to prioritize tasks, work with flexibility, and be creative; to self-start and
work independently, as well as on a team; and to communicate and interact
effectively with library and university staff, faculty, students, and members
of the public. Candidates are sought who are committed to
cross-functional librarianship, interested in working in a collaborative
library environment, and eager to participate in the daily life of a small,
liberal arts university community. Experience working in
libraries is preferred, as is experience in graphic and/or web
design. Early career librarians are encouraged to
apply.
