Librarian to join our team.
Position Summary
The Data Services Librarian provides leadership, support, and instruction in
the discovery, use, and management of locally and externally available data.
Collaborates with librarians, instructional technologists, and other staff to
develop scalable and sustainable data services that will support student and
faculty research at Reed. Reed is seeking energetic candidates who welcome the

intensely academic community.
This is a full-time exempt limited duration (2 years) position. Reed College

Essential Functions
Develops best practices to collect, preserve, and provide access to research
data
Serves as a resource to students, faculty, and staff on issues of data
curation and management, including data management plan development
Performs outreach to increase awareness of data services and resources
provided by the library, including promotion of data repositories, web-based
tools, and statistical sources.
Qualifications Required
ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information science and minimum
of one year of professional library experience or any combination of education
and experience that provides the desired knowledge, abilities, and skills
required to perform the job
Applicants should have experience with or knowledge of data management and
curation, providing reference and instruction services in an academic library
environment, and a strong interest in undergraduate liberal arts education.
Preferred Qualifications
Competence with tools and methodologies for quantitative, data-driven research
Familiarity with major national funding agencies data management protocol
requirements and data archival procedures
Familiarity with quantitative methods and data management and curation,
including preservation, metadata, and data retrieval
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to think creatively in developing and promoting the use of library
resources and collections
Background or experience in supporting diverse populations of faculty and
students.
A strong commitment to public service and basic knowledge of reference sources
and tools
