The Islandora team will be offering a half day tutorial on the new
Institutional Repository framework at this year's International Conference
on Preservation of Digital Objects (iPRES) in Lisbon, Portugal on September
2, 2013: http://ipres2013.ist.utl.pt/t1_6-iPRES2013-IslandoraIRTutorial.pdf
Islandora’s new Institutional Repository (IR) framework meets the needs of
organizations that need a complex system to manage their constant flow of
intellectual output and collect, organize and preserve master's theses,
journal articles, dissertations, research and much more. Features include
numerous export and citation styles, enhanced options to import
publications using identifiers such as DOI and PMID, publication rights
management, and detailed repository statistics. The Islandora IR modules
are fully compatible with the standard set of Islandora modules, so you can
ingest and manage images, videos, books, and other content types alongside
scholarly publications.
This tutorial with begin with an overview of Islandora, focusing on the new
Institutional Repository framework. Using an online sandbox, participants
will be guided through the process of creating new citations, publications,
and other supported content types (images, videos, books, etc.). They will
then learn how to search, save and export citations in a variety of formats
and citation styles. Collection management, including publication embargo,
search configurations, and repository statistics will also be covered.
No prior experience with Islandora is required, so please sign up for this
tutorial when you register for the conference:

We look forward to seeing you there!
