**The Role**
The Research Information analyst is a new role within Research Services to
support the implementation of the Kent Research Information Management System
On-line (KRIMSOn). This is a fixed term 1 year position. The University is in
the final stages of selecting a supplier for this system and the Research
Information Analyst will participate in the development of the 'To Be' process
model and be responsible for end user configuration of the selected system and
the training plan.
This role will ideally suit someone with a systems analysis background who has
experience in software package configuration. The person must be comfortable
in liaising with users at all levels as well as developing and implementing
training plans. The post holder reports directly to the Research Information
Project Manager.
**The Person**
Educated to degree level or equivalent and with previous employment in a
system analysis role, the successful candidate will have experience of
corporate information system development projects.
Previous experience of working with senior organisation stakeholders and
experience in communicating business requirements to technical staff are
essential as is previous experience in training users on new corporate
information systems.
**Research Services**
Research is at the heart of the University's mission. Since the Research
Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2001, it has invested significant resources to
ensure a continued growth in internationally-recognised work. Research income
is a key facilitator of good research, and the University has made a priority
of increasing the value of new research grants and contracts.
The principal purpose of Research Services is to promote and manage
externally-funded research grants and contracts. In this capacity it is also
responsible for shaping and implementing the University's full economic
costing (fEC) methodology. It also oversees the University's research ethics
controls, its compliance with the Department of Health's Research Governance
Framework, and its preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
And it provides the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, and the Deans of the
Faculties with policy guidance and support.
