teach library users how to effectively and efficiently locate information,
appropriate research methodologies, and specific resources and discovery
tools. The University archivist also engages in outreach

records retention schedules; and experience working with diverse groups of
people at all levels in an organization.

Preferred qualifications include one year experience with CONTENTdm and large-
scale digitization in an academic environment; experience with metadata
extraction, transformation, and repurposing; demonstrated experience with
Archive-It; demonstrated experience in curating digital content in archival
repository and digital content transformation tools; and one year experience
working in an academic environment that successfully demonstrates
collaboration with administrators, faculty, students, and

position.

The UTSA Libraries Special Collections preserves the legacies of UTSA, San
Antonio, and South Texas through a rich array of primary
sources. Strengths of the collections include UTSA's
institutional history, San Antonio history, architecture, Mexican cookery,
women and women's history, and the Texas-Mexico border
region. The department has a growing digitization program,
is a leader in social media outreach and web archiving, and actively engages
with current and retired faculty.

The John Peace Library is nearing the end of a four-year renovation process
informed by fresh thinking on collection management and student intellectual
engagement. The libraries are well-integrated into the intellectual life of
campus through active partnerships with the Writing Center, Teaching and
Learning Center, and Tomas Rivera Center for Student Success.

The University of Texas at San Antonio is an emerging Tier One research
institute specializing in health, energy, security, sustainability, and human
and social development. With nearly 31,000 students, it is
the largest university in the San Antonio metropolitan
region. UTSA advances knowledge through research and
discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement, and public
service. The university embraces multicultural traditions
and serves as the center for intellectual and creative resources as well as a
catalyst for socioeconomic development and commercialization of intellectual
property - for Texas, the nation, and the world.

San Antonio, currently the seventh largest city in the United States, is a
charming and colorful metropolis located on the edge of the scenic Texas Hill
Country. The city is recognized as having one of the most recession-proof
economies in the country, contributing to a low cost of living and inexpensive
real estate. With its vibrant ethnic traditions, rich history, thriving arts
scene, and 300 days of sunshine per year, San Antonio offers an exceptional
quality of life.
