_**Purpose**_
Responsible for the design, management, maintenance and architecture of the
systems of the Texas Digital Library, a consortium of academic research
libraries engaged in the preservation, dissemination and ingestion of the data
and scholarly materials of the State of Texas.
_**Essential Functions**_
Act as leader of the TDL Systems team, overseeing the administration of
systems including repositories, preservation systems, the Vireo Electronic
Thesis and Dissertation Management System, and other tools supporting
scholarly communication activities as key services of the Texas Digital
Library. Develop an architecture for standardization, security, and back-up
assurance for TDL services within the Amazon cloud for multiple client
universities. Provide lead system administration for DSpace repository
management. Support applications for data processing, remote database
interfaces, and associated run-time environments and operate in a Linux
environment at Amazon Web Service. Work with Director of Operations to design
or integrate, code, test and deploy applications for support of services

**Required qualifications**
Demonstrated expertise with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in
systems administration. Relies on experience and proficiency to plan and
accomplish goals. Experience with configuration management systems such as
Puppet. Experience with hardware diagnostics, backups, replication and
failure-recover procedures. Proficiency in programming and/ or scripting
languages such as UNIX Shells, Python, PHP and Perl. Professional experience
in supporting web and database servers on Linux platforms. Current or recent
professional experience in Linux server administration. Strong experience with
SQL. Understanding of network fundamentals such as TCP IP, network firewalls
and proxies. Experience in identity management services. Experience in public
and private cloud storage and services. Experience with Sendmail. Ability to
work directly with customers. Ability to communicate and develop project plans
within a team environment. Ability to work in a team environment.
_**Preferred Qualifications**_
Experience in a digital library environment. Experience in a university
environment. Experience with Amazon Web Services including S3 and/or Glacier.
Experience in Solr/Lucene search and indexing systems. Experience with REST
and other web services. Experience managing DNS LDAP, Apache, Wordpress,
Tomcat, MySQL, Postgres, Nagios and Sendmail. Proven superior technology
troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

* The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
