**Job Description and Responsibilities**
Canadiana is looking for a junior to intermediate level systems developer to
help enhance and expand our digitization and preservation tools and
services. The systems developer will develop and support
in-house tools to manage the Canadiana digitization workflow, create metadata
records and manage the digital repository. The systems developer will also
assist the systems administration team by providing backup systems and network
administration services and technical support. He or she will also participate
in requirements analysis and design of Canadiana's network services and tools.
**Qualifications**
The systems developer must have experience developing scripts and client-
server tools in a UNIX/Linux environment. A solid knowledge of databases, XML
(including XML schemas and XSLT) and basic networking and systems
administration is essential. Knowledge of one or more relevant programming
languages (Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Bourne Shell) and the ability to learn new
languages and technologies as needed is required.
This position requires good analytical and problem-solving skills. Good
communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
A university degree in computer science or an equivalent field or at least two
years of relevant experience is required. Bilingualism (French/English) is an
asset. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
