The Library and Archives at the Royal Ontario Museum is seeking a creative and
innovative professional to become a member of its Library and Archives team.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Collections and Research, and working under
the supervision of the Head, Library and Archives, the Archivist/Records
Manager undertakes the arrangement, physical processing, and description of
archival records in all formats acquired and/or created by the Royal Ontario
Museum, and facilitates the discovery and use of these holdings. The
successful candidate will also lead the development of a program for the
management of corportae records regardless of media in consultation with
Museum departments, including a records inventory, classification scheme,
retention schedules, and policies and procedures that guide the handling and
disposition of corporate records. The position is to be divided equally
between archives and records management responsibilities.
The incumbent will participate in project teams,and will be called upon to
assist with the development of digital content and initiatives in support of
the ROM's broader mandates.
Duties include interaction with ROM departments and curators, as well as
donors from the general public; provision of public services through the
Library & Archives service desks; and other duties related to the ongoing
operations of the ROM Library & Archives. The incumbent will be required to
engage in public presentations, research and publication as criteria for
promotion and merit, and is expected to participate in professional
organizations.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in archives studies or an
equivalent combiniation of related degree(s) and experience in archives and
records management. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
are required. Coursework and/or experience in museum studies will be an asset.
Compensation:
The appointment will be made at the rank of Librarian 2 ($58,903 - $72,317).
This position is represented by the Royal Ontario Museum Curatorial
Association.
