Electronic Collections Librarian (Assistant Librarian)

Under the direction of the Head of Collection Development, the Electronic
Collections Librarian will work with other Library departments to coordinate
and support the collection development and management of licensed electronic
resources in all formats.
-Coordinating and providing leadership for the selection, acquisition, and management of electronic resources (including identifying and selecting resources, establishing and evaluating trials, negotiating price and licenses, authorizing renewals, and developing collection policy).
-Monitoring and planning budgets for electronic collections.
-Overseeing metadata management for electronic materials using various library resource management systems (namely, SerialsSolutions 360 Link, III Sierra System including the electronic resource management module, Swetswise serials management, and other local systems).
-Providing outreach and marketing to promote the electronic collections.
-Analyzing usage data to assess the electronic collections.
-Providing top-level support for electronic resource troubleshooting.
-Planning for long-term preservation of purchased electronic resources.
-Applying knowledge of current issues and trends in electronic resource licensing, acquisitions, and resource discovery to improve workflow and resource discovery.
-Providing staff development and training for effectively using the electronic collections.
-Providing general reference and research assistance to library users during scheduled hours at a public service desk.
-Serving as a subject librarian, performing collection development and instruction for an academic department.
-Establishing a research agenda related to electronic collection management.
-ALA accredited MLS degree by August 2014.
-Experience in an academic or research library.
-Working knowledge of cataloging, collection development, acquisitions, e-resource, or other technical services management.
-Experience using an integrated library system such as Innovative Interfaces system.
-Excellent communication skills including listening, writing, and speaking.
-Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive public service attitude.
-Ability to work collaboratively across all units of the Library.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and report data using office productivity software.
-Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
-Ability to work independently and perform complicated tasks with minimal supervision.
-Commitment to meet established library criteria for promotion and tenure.
-Experience with electronic resources and serials management tools such as the III ERM, SerialsSolutions 360 Resource Manager including 360 Link, and/or the III Encore discovery layer).
-Experience with subscription vendors such as Swets or EBSCO.
-Demonstrated technical support skills.
-Familiarity with current issues in collection development.
-Experience with budgeting or invoicing.
-Experience teaching or training.
-Experience with collection development.
