The Digital Public Spaces Librarian will champion development of EPL's digital
public spaces, spearheading

demonstration projects and overseeing on-going projects, ensuring services are
driven by customer and community

needs, and offering knowledge of digital trends and tools to EPL teams and
staff as they pilot new online programs.

  
As the ideal candidate, you have experience in a library public service
environment, modeling excellent customer service,

and in the development and delivery of web-based and technology-focused
library services. Diplomatic and collaborative,

with superb technology and organizational skills, you excel working in a team
environment and in supporting the learning

of others.

  
Reporting to the Manager, Web Services & Digital Literacy Initiatives at the
Stanley A. Milner Library, you will also serve

as a member of the group that leads the development and implementation of web-
based and digital literacy services for

customers of all ages.

  
You are committed to intellectual freedom and other key principles of
librarianship and you will uphold and model the

ideals found in the CLA position statements on Intellectual Freedom and
Diversity and Inclusion.

  
Qualifications:

Master of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited
library school.

Experience developing and delivering technology-focused library services and
programs is preferred.

Experience working collaboratively with community groups is preferred.

What do you need to bring to this position?

Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and
training skills.

Ability to assess community interest and needs, and to plan and deliver
digital services accordingly, in keeping

with the Library's business plan and strategic directions.

Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs for staff and
customers of all ages and from a wide

variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds.

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.

Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team
environment.

Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of emerging digital trends and their
application to library service design

and delivery.

Familiarity with best practices in website design and user-experience
conventions for service delivery, and digital

resource access and management standards, including related legislative
frameworks (i.e. copyright).

Knowledge of web coding languages (HTML, CSS) and proficiency with personal
computers, Microsoft Office

applications, mobile devices and e-readers, social software and other web-
based platforms and service

applications.
