The University of Notre Dame seeks a **Senior Programmer/Analyst** at its
campus in Notre Dame, Indiana
DUTIES: Serves as a senior analyst/programmer in the
Digital Library Applications and Local Programming unit within the Library
Information Systems. Focus heavily on
application development at all levels of the Model View Controller stack on
top of a Fedora Digital Repository and Solr. Work will also
include automation of digital file ingests, metadata parsing, and digital
object creation in the Digital Repository in either Ruby or
Java. Gather and analyze requirements, designs data models
and software, maintains and enhances the local development computing
environment, and programs and tests significant, high-visibility and highly-
collaborative technology projects to support existing services, capabilities
and workflows, and implement new services. Works to
analyze, develop new and efficient solutions to enhance workflow and
capability from existing systems, develop and implement new services and
systems, and innovate new functionality for the users the department
supports. Provide users with new processes and data
retrieval that are not packaged with existing information
systems. Provide system administration functions for
systems maintained by the staff of the department. Perform
installation and configuration of new software versions and applications in
the development environment. Maintain and apply software
updates to these systems, including system troubleshooting, reporting and
resolution. Serve as backup system administrator for the
primary system administrator when he/she is unavailable.
Work with end users and other technical staff, investigate and document
requirements for proposed solutions, provide software design and data modeling
that will feed into programming steps that the incumbent and others
implement. Work with staff and faculty throughout the
Libraries, lead work groups and small project teams on collaborative technical
projects, serving as technical lead and technology integration specialist for
creating new services and enhancing existing information services in the
Libraries.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science (or related
field) or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science ( or related field) plus
five (5) years progressive experience with Java development, experience
working with MVC web frameworks such as Struts or Ruby on Rails and Relational
(SQL) database training or experience with databases such as Oracle and/or
MySQL. In addition, all candidates must have six(6) months
experience with Java testing frameworks including JUnit,
experience parsing and managing xml files, experience with
Agile Development, Java, Apache, Tomcat, experience with Web Services
programming using SOAP, HTML, CSS, AJAX, experience with build, deploy, and
version control tools such as Ant, SVN, CVS, and/or Git.
Experience with Linux. Full-time.
