Manager, Enterprise Library System - PA4IT
Enterprise Business Systems is seeking a motivated and collaborative professional IT Manager with proven experience building cohesive teams, motivating technical staff, recruiting skilled IT talent, and delivering/supporting high quality enterprise-scale applications.
Job Summary: Develops, in conjunction with the IU Libraries, long-range plans and strategies for systems development, implementation, and integration of enterprise library applications and services in use to acquire, describe, discover, circulate, and preserve print and electronic collections. Manages systems analysis and programming personnel for the Enterprise Library Systems Team (ELS)*.
Responsible for leading the effort to implement the Kuali Open Library Environement (OLE) at Indiana University; and reports to the Director of Enterprise Business Systems in Enterprise Software.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and five years of computing experience, including at least two years of enterprise systems development experience.
Solid understanding of sound management principles and practices, including demonstrated supervisory skills; and a deep understanding of major components of Library Service Software Platforms including Circulation, Acquisitions, Cataloging and Discovery Modules, coupled with knowledge of how such functional components impact library staff workflows and how students, faculty, and staff consume and interact with associated library data.
Possess in-depth knowledge of the complete enterprise systems development life-cycle, systems analysis, architecture, design, and quality assurance. Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills essential for interaction with diverse groups of clients in both administrative and academic roles. Skill to engage in collaborative work with a wide range of academic librarians and library technologists, helping to translate their goals, objectives, and concerns to the implementation teams.
Ability to read and interpret technical and policy-oriented documents and contextualize key points to an academic audience and to write coherent and succinct status/progress reports to the community of librarians and staff.
Preferred: Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science; experience with large enterprise scale library information systems in an academic setting; experience with large scale system projects, especially library systems, in a university environment.
Other: *The ELS team supports university Library systems serving all IU campuses. These systems include SirsiDynix Symphony, IUCAT (Blacklight), classic IUCAT, and enterprise systems integration with Student Information Systems (SIS), Financial Systems (KFS), and Learning Management Systems.
