 ProQuest is Seeking a **Sr. Linux Systems Administrator:**

  
Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest. The city is a damp green
gem, with an abundance of evergreen trees throughout, and spectacular views of
the Cascade Mountains to the east and the Olympic Mountains to the west. Home
of about half-million people, it exhibits a spirit of optimism, enterprise,
and self-promotion. Proquest is a growing high- tech company located along the
beautiful Burke-Gilman trail in the fun Fremont neighborhood.

  
As a** Sr. Systems Administrator,** you will have a great opportunity to work
closely with our Development team and QA to help make data driven
decisions. In this role you will work on a small, but
growing, team of highly focused energetic Systems Administrators and be an
integral part of our Operations team responsible for making, maintaining,
supporting and developing multi-tiered search and discovery applications that
enable librarians, academic researchers and vendors to efficiently manage,
provide, and use their e-resources.

Here's some of what you'll be doing:**

  * Build and maintain search and discovery system infrastructure
  * Support a team that troubleshoots complex system applications - both internal and external - issues at a high level of proficiency and independence
  * Manage high availability systems in an Application Service Provider environment where downtime is not an option
  * Help IT/Ops Principal proactively identify and remove roadblocks, both technical and administrative
  * Help build and administer a new AWS infrastructure, in addition to our existing datacenters
  * Assist other technology departments and help to design and determine equipment and networking solutions needed
  
**What you'll need to be successful:**

  * Excellent system administration skills with a minimum of 4 years hands on experience in a UNIX/Linux based environment
  * Strong communication skills with a great attitude
  * Strong ability to diagnose production issues, with a strong knowledge of scripting
  * Results oriented, self-motivated and resourceful problem solver
  * Experience with the design and support of a large environment
  * Experience with Perl, Python, Ruby or Bash shell scripting for the purposes of system administration and development
  * Must be security minded, with an excellent understanding of network/host security fundamentals
  * Experience administering Linux environments
  * Experience with CentOS 5.x/6.x
  * Ability to participate in on-call responsibilities
  * Ability to work non-standard hours on occasion

  * Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and data centers
  * Experience with Java/Ruby on Rails (RoR) applications
  * Experience with Zeus Load Balancers
  * Experience administering Windows Domains
  * Experience working with Agile development teams with strong communication skills
  * Experience with system management tools such as puppet or chef
  * Experience with Solr/Lucene or other search engine platforms
  * Experience with large scale data management and associated backup and replication
  * Experience designing and building multi-datacenter services and networks
