Association of Moving Image Archivists<http://www.amianet.org/> and DLF are pleased to support two travel grants for the AMIA Conference in Savannah, GA, October 8-11, 2014.
The goal of the AMIA + DLF Travel Awards is to bring cross-pollinators—developers and software engineers who can provide unique perspectives to moving image and sound archivist’s work with digital materials, and share a vision of the library world from their perspective—to the conference.
Eligibility
The purpose of these grants is to extend the opportunity to attend the Association of Moving Image Archivists Conference<http://www.amiaconference.com/> to two software development professionals. The applicants should be seeking more exposure to trends in stewarding audiovisual collections, who:
* Would not typically attend the conference, but can envision and articulate a connection with their work
* See great value in building a dynamic and diverse peer network
* Are interested in participating in the AMIA/DLF Hack Day<http://wiki.curatecamp.org/index.php/Association_of_Moving_Image_Archivists_%26_Digital_Library_Federation_Hack_Day_2014> on October 8
The Award
Two awards of up to $1,250 each to go towards the travel, board, and lodging expenses of attending the AMIA conference. Additionally, the awardees will each receive a complimentary full registration to the AMIA conference ($450). Subsequent to the conference and Hack Day, recipients will be required to write a blog post about their experience, to be published by DLF.
Application
Applicants will be required to supply contact information and a résumé, as well as a statement about how attending the Association of Moving Image Archivists Conference will expand your professional horizons, and what skills or ideas you could bring to the Hack Day. Please send an email with the subject “AMIA Cross-Pollinator: [Name]” to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, including ONE attachment with the required materials. The winning applicants must be able to travel to Savannah, October 8-11.
Deadline
Applications are due by August 12, 2014, 4 pm EDT. Winners will be announced in late August.
