Librarian, Systems Support and Development

Applications are invited for the post of Librarian (Systems Support and
Development) based at the University's King's Meadow Campus.
The successful candidate will:
* provide specialist technical advice and direction relating to the ongoing development and improvement of the library management systems which are currently based around Ex Libris products
* inform the development and implementation of best practice resource discovery systems to ensure that staff and students gain maximum benefits from the University's £5 million annual investment in library materials
* support the discovery of and access to electronic resources and also act as shibboleth co-ordinator for the Library participating in the development of digital library services.
Candidates must have a degree and a high level of computer literacy together
with a clear understanding of the technical infrastructure underpinning access
to electronic resources. They must be able to demonstrate good project
management skills, along with the ability to work on their own initiative and
as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as
the ability to work well under pressure.
This is a key role which requires an experienced and committed individual who
is positive about the need to continually improve our services with a good
approach to problem solving and innovation. The role requires liaison and
cooperation with a wide range of colleagues across both Libraries and Research
and Learning Resources and with Information Services.
