Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, a multicounty regional library system
serving all types of libraries in south-central Minnesota and headquartered in
Mankato, welcomes applications for the position of Automation Systems
Librarian.
In the first year, the Automation Systems Librarian will plan, coordinate, and
manage the extensive migration project of TdS's regional member libraries
SirsiDynix's Symphony automation software to Innovative Interfaces Inc. (iii),
Sierra automation software. In conjunction with this migration, the Automation
Systems Librarian will act as the liaison between Innovative System Technical
Support and TdS member libraries to develop and coordinate technical training
for staff including creation or modification of training materials. After the
migration period, the Automation Systems Librarian will administer the
automation software working with member library staff to develop and set
policies and procedures and resolve automation system's hardware and software
issues.
Master's degree in Library Science and 3 to 5 years working with library
automation systems, networking experience, knowledge and practical experience
in programming and current trends in library automation. Candidates should
also possess thorough knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and problem-
solving of an integrated library system.
The successful applicant must have the ability to organize work efficiently,
to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing, the ability to work
with vendors to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve automation system's
hardware and software issues, the ability to work both independently and
collaboratively in a congenial team environment with flexibility and the
willingness to adapt to changing priorities and projects.
Salary is $50,000+ depending on experience; benefits package include:
