Under the general direction of the Library Operations and Services
Administrator, the person in this position is responsible for managing the
design, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of all technology-related
tools and services of the library system. This position will also work
collaboratively with library division managers, library managers, and
community members to identify the technology needs of our staff and public and
develop plans to meet those needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Note: The listed duties are

1. Ensures the proper operation and functioning of library technical systems,
including databases, database management systems, on-line services, and the
desktops, laptops, and handheld devices on which they operate.
2. Ensures that the Librarys technology and its technology-related services,
policies, and procedures are developed with the end-user in mind.
3. Recommends technology standards, policies, new technological initiatives,
and best practices.
4. Coordinates, manages, and mentors the Librarys Computer Support Technician
and the Librarys Graphic Design Specialist.
5. Leads technology projects through entire process including planning,
implementation, and evaluation.
6. Works closely with the Library¿s Staff Development Specialist to coordinate
training on electronic resources and services to create learning opportunities
for staff around new technologies.
7. Acts as liaison with the Information Technology Services Department to
coordinate and prioritize support and assistance needs.
8. Acts as liaison with technology related vendors to coordinate planning,
implementation, and evaluation of technology services and products.

1. Experience working with technology initiatives in a public library setting.
2. Ability to identify opportunities in new technologies, trends, and changes
in electronic access within the library field as well as similar fields of
work.
3. Ability to effectively communicate and lead people and teams through
complex projects and changes.
4. Knowledge and experience with integrated library systems, web applications,
mobile technology, and desktop operating systems.
5. Ability to initiate, manage, and successfully complete complex projects and
work plans.
6. Knowledge of standard library methods, policies, and procedures.
7. Ability to solve problems and to exercise initiative and sound decision-
making within established parameters.
8. Ability to create and maintain clear documentation.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelors Degree or equivalent training and certification in Computer
Science, MIS, or related area and four years experience in information
technology and/or library science. An equivalent amount of training and
experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License
