Springfield seeks an Electronic Resources Librarian who will also serve as an
Instructional Services Librarian. This is a Clinical Faculty position with an
Academic Professional component for a librarian who possesses the requisite
skills, experience, and/or demonstrated knowledge from course work or
experience. The Electronic Resources Librarian will facilitate patron
discovery and ensure consistent patron access by administering a wide range of
library technical and systems services and operations including, but not
limited to, the electronic resource management system, integrated library
system, proxy server, knowledge base, and openURL resolver. The Electronic
Resources Librarian will establish communication and maintain professional
relationships with external service providers, including publishers, vendors,
consortia, content providers, and technology suppliers, and will collaborate
internally with library staff in other departments and with catalogers to
provide optimal access to the Library's electronic resource collection. In
addition, the Electronic Resources Librarian will serve as an Instructional
Services Librarian participating in liaison and outreach, instruction,
reference, and collection development. This position will report to the
Director of Library Technical Services and Information Systems and will work
closely with the Director of Collections & Scholarly Communications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MLS or MLIS from an accredited library school and two
years of experience in an academic or research library. Experience with an
electronic resource management system, an integrated library system, a
discovery system, a link resolver, and a proxy server. Knowledge of best
practices, current trends, and issues in electronic resources management.
Experience with data manipulation using Microsoft Excel and Access. Experience
with technology troubleshooting and problem resolution, including electronic
subscription access. Ability to work independently and to achieve positive
outcomes in a collaborative environment, and to learn and apply new
technologies quickly; strong customer service orientation with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Ex Libris Voyager's acquisition
module; experience with ProQuest's (Serials Solutions) electronic resource
management system; experience with OCLC's WorldCat Local, Discovery, and
Knowledge Base; knowledge of electronic resources standards such as COUNTER;
experience with batch uploads and statistical analysis; experience reading
license agreements or legal documents; project management skills.
Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
