Brown University Library seeks energetic, experienced, and creative applicants
for the position of Library Systems Analyst.
The Library Systems Analyst recommends or creates automated solutions for
manual tasks, improving the efficacy and efficiency workflows in the library's
Access Services functional areas (cataloging/metadata, acquisitions and
e-resources, circulation, resource sharing, preservation, shelving, and off-
site storage). Improves upon existing automated routines
where possible. Develops training modules and documentation
for staff in use of tools. Explores new system needs and identifies criteria
for evaluating same; provides technical support and solutions for e-resource
management and access issues; and participates actively in professional
organizations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information
Science, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and
experience. MLIS or equivalent desirable.
• Significant, demonstrable experience with common programming languages
(e.g., Ruby, Python)
• 3-5 years' experience with common library software and automation tools
(e.g., MARCEdit, AutoIt, Archivists' Toolkit, OpenRefine, EZProxy).
• 3-5 years' demonstrated experience with systems and workflow analysis and
collaborative approaches to continuous improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Creativity and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience with library automation software in use at Brown
(Innovative Millennium, GFA inventory control).
• Ability to learn new technical skills quickly; ability to meet deadlines;
strong service-orientation
• Evidence of ability to grow professionally.
